Turn a blank notebook into your personal planner, habit tracker, and creative outlet.
What is Bullet Journaling?
Bullet journaling (or BuJo) is a customizable organization system created by Ryder Carroll. It combines your to-do list, planner, diary, and habit tracker in a single notebook. The beauty is that you design it yourself — so it fits exactly how your brain works.
What You Need to Start
- A dotted notebook: Dots give you structure without being restrictive. A5 size is most popular.
- A good pen: Black gel pen (0.5mm) for writing, plus a few colors for headers and accents.
- A ruler: For clean lines and boxes (optional but helpful).
The Basic Spreads
Index (Page 1-2)
Your table of contents. As you add pages, note the page number and topic here so you can find anything quickly.
Future Log (Pages 3-6)
A 6-month overview. List important dates, events, and goals. This is your big-picture view.
Monthly Log
At the start of each month, create a calendar page and a task list. Review your Future Log and pull relevant items forward.
Daily Log
Your day-to-day rapid logging. Use bullets for tasks (•), dashes for notes (–), and circles for events (○). Mark completed tasks with an X.
